Auditing

CAPTM is one of the finest safety and health, environmental and quality, (SHEQ) integrated management systems assessment processes available.

CAPTM was developed by safety and health, environmental and quality professionals with practical experience in the assessment and implementation of management systems from a wide variety of industries including:

  • Power Utilities
  • Mining (surface and underground)
  • Transportation (including road, rail and sea)
  • Paper and pulp
  • General Manufacturing
  • Food processing
  • Pharmaceutical
  • Construction
  • And more.

Measuring management systems adds value to responsible organisations through objective and professional evaluation of implemented systems.

The IRCA Audit Division measures the level of compliance with ISO 14001, OSHAS 18001, ISO 9001, as well as other organisational standards and requirements. Our clients benchmark themselves to go beyond minimum legal requirements, in order to reap the benefits of an Integrated SHEQ Management System.

The IRCA IRS™ / IDRS™ Audit assists in the detection of system failures through the measurement of the control and performance of an organisation’s SHEQ management system.

System failures are the fundamental root causes of incidents and non-conformances within an organisation. System failures or fundamental root causes are the result

of inadequate Hazard/Aspect Identification, Risk/Impact Assessments and Risk/ Quality Control measures.

The IRS™ / IDRS™ protocol is therefore an assessment tool that focuses on risk;

the potential for loss. Losses can be categorized as:

• Harm to people: most often receives the highest level of attention. There are tangible losses associated with injuries such as:

– Visible trauma

– Compensation costs

– Broken and disfigured bodies

– Rehabilitation costs

– Absenteeism

• Harm to property: Includes:

– equipment damage

– material damage

– building damage

– Parts damage.

• Harm to process: Includes:

– production interruption

– increased defect rates

– poor quality

• Harm to Environment: Includes:

– community nuisances

– harm to the atmosphere

– harm to soil

– harm to water

The following protocols are available as a single or combined audit:

• IRCA Diamond Rating System (IDRS) Audits

• IRCA Rating System (IRS) Audits

• Responsible Care Audits

• Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) Programme Audits

• Legal Compliance Audits

• Limited Scope Audits

• IRCA Basic Rating System (IBRS)

• OHSAS 18001:2007 Certification

• IRCA now offers certification audits as well for OHSAS 18001:2007 ISO 9001:2004 and ISO 14001:2007.

IRCA DIAMOND RATING SYSTEM (IDRSTM) – For Industry and Mining The IDRS protocol evaluates the effective implementation of an integrated system, measuring the organisation against the requirements of OSHAS 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 simultaneously. The IDRS not only measures the implementation and effectiveness of the management systems, but also evaluates World’s Best Practises (WBP).

A comprehensive report and graphs as well as an overall percentage and star rating are issued at the end of the audit. This audit is recommended for the organisation that has mature and effective management systems and requires a world-class SHEQ system.

IRCA RATING SYSTEM (IRSTM) – For Industry and Mining

The IRS protocol evaluates the effective implementation of an integrated system, measuring the organisation against the requirements of OSHAS 18001,

ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 and World’s Best Practises. The organisation can choose to be audited on one or more of the International Standards.

A comprehensive report and graphs as well as an overall percentage and star rating are issued at the end of the audit.

IRCA BASIC RATING SYSTEM (IBRS) – For Industry and Mining

The intent of the IBRS Protocol is to provide a rating tool or system in order to comply with minimum health and safety legal requirements and basic recognised health and safety practises. It will not ensure that clients are fully compliant with ISO or other standards, but will serve as a stepping stone to progress to IDRS/IRS implementation.

A comprehensive report and graphs as well as an overall percentage and star rating are issued at the end of the audit.
